All You Need to Know to Pitch an Original Board Book with Naomi Kirsten, Senior Editor at Chronicle Books

Date(s) - 11/16/2019
5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

There is a common misconception that board books are always picture book conversions. That is not the case! In fact, original board books are an increasingly popular format due to their cross-market channel resonance and appeal to infants and toddlers, not to mention their parents, caregivers, and gift givers. In this content-rich, one-hour webinar, we will explore key themes in the original board book realm and derive lessons from what has been successfully published. Chronicle Books Senior Editor Naomi Kirsten will also walk attendees through select board books that she has developed with authors and illustrators, and share lessons and tips to impact your pitch and project’s evolution.

Webinar objectives:

Explore what makes a board book proposal compelling to a publisher like Chronicle Books.
Gain a deeper understanding of the board book acquisition process. What is Chronicle Books looking for
when considering an original board book pitch?
Explore enduring board book trends and themes while examining emerging trends.
Walk through the publication process once a board book project is acquired by a publisher like Chronicle Books.
Go behind-the-scenes with four original board books, from the pitch through development.

*A limited number of written critiques are available.
*All webinar attendees will be able to submit one board book project to Naomi for 6 months following the webinar.
